The 2026 UN Biodiversity Conference (COP 17) serves as the pivotal midpoint assessment for the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Hosted in Yerevan, Armenia, from October 19–30, 2026, this conference marks the first "Global Review" of collective progress toward 2030 targets. It aims to transition global commitments into tangible local conservation efforts while addressing the critical financing gap. Beyond the main COP, it includes the 12th meeting of the Cartagena Protocol and the 6th meeting of the Nagoya Protocol. The summit will be a decisive moment for governing emerging financial mechanisms and ensuring that biodiversity protection is integrated into national climate and economic strategies
