Description

The 48th Meeting of the Open-ended Working Group (OEWG 48) serves as the essential preparatory session for the 38th Meeting of the Parties (MOP 38). Held in Bangkok in July 2026, this technical forum brings together global scientists, policymakers, and industry experts to evaluate the latest findings on ozone recovery and HFC trends. A major focus of the 2026 session is the consideration of reports from the three main Assessment Panels (SAP, EEAP, and TEAP) regarding the environmental impact and technological alternatives to controlled substances. Notably, the Sixth Extraordinary Meeting of the Parties (ExMOP6) will be convened during this week to address urgent administrative or financial decisions, ensuring the Protocol remains the most successful example of multilateral environmental cooperation.
